RE: Detection equipment mounting location
On types of detection - as I have to spend some minutes till my workshift ends - are the following, and mainly came from some experience, not hard facts:
-visual detection may be hampered by bad weather, fog, night and smoke
-a laser tracker rangefined on a 2way turret could follow an aleady detected unit from underwater
-unconnected buoys still distract, but doesn't give detection data
-using radar/sonar bouyed detection are best put on intentionally inaccurate/slow missiles
-a buoyed missile won't be launched till the previous one is destroyed
-the detection becomes better when the distance is lower - get something near the enemy as buoys or small vehichles with intra (really inter) vehicle transmitters
-passive sonar detects propellers and sonars, passive radar detects radarmissiles and radars
