The Kraken

By ThunderPanzer

The Kraken is a legendary sea monster that lurks from beneath the waves, attacking ships that dare to venture into the deep ocean for too long. Though feared by many sailors, the Kraken only attacks small wooden sailships, as it fears being captured by larger ironcladed steam ships and sold on the market or go into a zoo.
For no apparent reason, multiple studies have shown that the species is rapidly increasing in numbers, and that they are evolving new kinds of anti-ship armament. One specimen appears to have it’s mantle completely hollowed out, and inside of it there’s a large solid cylinder scientists believe it some sort of biological “torpedo”. Most other specimens have also shown a complex “group” regeneration, in which the tip of their tentacles have evolved to act as long-range “repairers” for other nearby members of their group.

  • How can I lock the AI out of the sail controls? October 21, 2018
Hi, I wrote a simple LUA sail control script, which keeps the sails in the right angle and prevents capsizing. But my problem is that I cant set the ship with an AI up since the naval card overwrites my script. So I wanted to ask if there is any possibility to lock the AI […]
  • Steam Propellers October 20, 2018
Steam Props are here boys. Basically steam props take the rotational power of a steam shaft that would otherwise power like six or ten Huge Propellers and focus it all on one point. There's a couple issues immediately - I don't see a reasonable way to put an entire steam assembly on spin blocks to […]

  • Update weapon questions October 19, 2018
I've been pretty inactive in both this forum and the game recently but I noticed there was a pretty big update that could have big effects on my designs, with my airships being the most affected. Anyway, here's the questions. Keep in mind I haven't played with the update yet. How good are the new […]

  • Concept: Carriers. October 19, 2018
In the past, aircraft carriers have been extremely underrepresented in FTD compared to in real life, with most carriers being effectively battleships with drones rather than designated carriers. With the introduction of the stronger missiles in the current version, this could change as follows. The carrier itself has no or minimal guns but a large […]

  • New missiles: Your opinions? October 17, 2018
Okay, let me get this straight. I do not enjoy the new missile systems, but I want a constructive discussion about how to make them better. Now that this is out of the way, let me start. Missiles are one of the weapons that has been in the game for a long time. As such, […]
