Created by Kamina the Great, and Simon the Digger, of the Gurren Brigade, through a combination of Simon’s ‘Lagann’ and Kamina’s ‘Gurren’ Gurren Lagann is the iconic Gunmen (Translates roughly to ‘With Face’ and is a standard term for mecha with Faces on their chests) of the Gurren, and later Dai-Gurren Brigade. it is capable of utilizing massive amounts of Spiral Energy and can create thousands of drills from its body, and is capable of combining with almost any Gunmen in the universe. the Lagann unit that makes up its head is one of the most versatile gunmen in the universe, and perhaps multiverse, and gives Gurren Lagann its amazing combining abilities, as well as being its conduit for Spiral Energy, Gurren Lagann is responsible for its impressive feat of taking Dai-Gunzan the Gunmen Land Battleship, later renamed to Dai-Gurren after Kamina’s personal Gunmen, after defeating several Beastman Gunmen with several spontaneously generated telescopic drills, and then annihilating Thymilph, the General of Fire with a Giga Drill Breaker.
